Nathan’s study of music began when he received his first guitar as a Christmas present from his parents at the age of 10. He learned how to play electric and steel string acoustic for 5 years until his father showed him a piece by Bach, which he fell deeply in love with. Thus began his study of classical guitar which won him a scholarship to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

His teacher’s have included Larry Ferarra, Marc Teicholz, David Tanenbaum, Peter Zisa and his own father William Taylor. Nathan has played in master classes for guitarists such as the Grammy award winning David Russell, Margarita Escarpa, Ana Vidovic and the Katona Twins. While studying in San Francisco, Nathan’s musical interests continued to develop and broaden and led him to learn about the music of North India and Bali. He immersed himself in such subjects as composition, improvisation, jazz and eastern philosophy.

Nathan feels that music is about expression, creativity and feelings and that no matter what your role in music is, whether you are a musician, a listener, a teacher, a student or all of the above, music serves to evoke these things in us.
